The Funds administer health and pension benefits to nearly one million Teamster members and participants with over 1,000 contributing employers to the Funds. The Staff Auditor position is a full-time entry level position best suited for a wide range of candidates from recent college graduates looking to begin their careers to individuals who have been in the workforce and are looking for a refreshing career path change. Individuals can advance quickly within the Audit Department, with promotions regularly happening within two years. No prior CPA or audit experience is necessary. The starting salary for the position is $62,400.

 

This position has been a springboard to many exciting careers throughout the Company. All audit management started their careers as entry level staff auditors as did nearly all senior management throughout the entire company.

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

  • Audit employer benefit contributions made to the Funds to verify compliance with contract requirements and Fund rules
  • Travel to employer locations with audit team to conduct audits on site, or remotely, depending on the records that are available (time spent traveling could be up to 25%, no weekends)
  • Work independently and under supervision to perform compliance testing and analyze payroll data
  • Communicate with audit management and other departments to resolve outstanding issues
  • Prepare written correspondence including audit engagement letters and audit summary reports

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of performing detailed analytical work with accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel (skilled with vlookup and pivot tables is preferred but not required)

 

Education:

  • 4-year college degree, typically in a business-related field (Accounting, Finance, Administration, etc.). However, several auditors with a strong mathematical aptitude have succeeded with degrees in non-business related fields.

As a condition of employment, all new hires are required to provide documentation showing that they are up to date with COVID-19 vaccines, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
