Central States Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund was founded in 1955 and has blazed a trail to retirement security. Paying over $90 billion in lifetime pension benefits for 690,000 retirees and beneficiaries to-date and has revolutionized the pension world of American workers.

 

Position Summary
The Payment Solutions Analyst is responsible for accurately processing self-payments for COBRA and Retiree Health coverage to ensure timely and continuous member eligibility. This role manages incoming payments, applies and reconciles transactions within our internal billing and eligibility system (V3locity), monitors rate changes, and resolves discrepancies related to billing and coverage. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and communicate directly with members to provide clear guidance, ensure compliance with COBRA regulations, and maintain the integrity of health and welfare eligibility records.

Responsibilities

  • Processing COBRA payments & Retiree Health payments  
  • Receiving incoming self-payment documentation with daily bank deposits from our trusted banking partner, BNY
  • Analyzing and applying self-payments in V3locity to ensure members’ eligibility for health and welfare coverage
  •  Generating workflows in an internal system to capture incoming documentation
  • Corresponding with members to inform them of pertinent information
  • Reviewing weekly reports for any discrepancies in self-payments applied
  • Preparing refunds to members due to overpayment when appropriate
  • Determining eligibility for COBRA in response to correspondence, phone inquiries, and reports
  • Monitoring rate changes and determining the proper rates for COBRA and Retiree Health payments
  • Extensive contact with other internal areas as well as with members.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of COBRA guidelines
  • Prior experience administrating COBRA benefits, including processing payments (preferred, not required)
  • Ability to reconcile complex billing issues
  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and dependable
  • Beginner knowledge of Excel
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred, not required)

 

Compensation

 

Hourly salary: $34.78-$35.82 per hour
