Central States Pension Fund

Central States Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund was founded in 1955 and has blazed a trail to retirement security. Paying over $90 billion in lifetime pension benefits for 690,000 retirees and beneficiaries to-date and has revolutionized the pension world of American workers.

 

Position Summary

The HR Ops Specialist supports day-to-day administration and continuous improvement of HR processes, systems, and programs across the employee lifecycle.  This role is responsible for ensuring data integrity within the HRIS, executing key HR transactions, maintaining personnel records, supporting compliance initiatives, and providing exceptional service to employees and leaders.  The HR Ops Specialist partners closely with Payroll, Total Rewards, Finance, and CTS (IT) to drive efficient, consistent, and compliant HR operations that enhance the employee experience.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

 

HR Data & Systems

  • Maintain and audit employee data in the HRIS to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance
  • Process employee lifecycle transactions including hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, and compensation changes
  • Support system updates, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Generate and analyze HR reports and dashboards to support business and compliance needs

Employee Experience & Support

  • Serve as primary contact for HR-related inquiries, providing timely and accurate responses to procedures and programs
  • Partner with Payroll, Total Rewards, and Talent team to ensure seamless coordination of employee changes and issue resolution

Compliance & Records Management

  • Maintain digital and physical personnel files in compliance with company policy and legal requirements
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and data requests
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations

Process Improvement & Projects

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate manual processes, and enhance system utilization
  • Participate in or lead HR operational projects such as process standardization and documentation, system implementations, etc.
  • Assist with HR metrics, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field 
  • 3-5 years of experience in HR operations, HR administration, or related HR support role
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms (Workday, UKG, SAP SuccessFactors)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other productivity tools

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Excellent organizational time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Solid understanding of HR processes, employment laws, and compliance standards
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other productivity tools
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity

 

Compensation

 

Annual Salary Range: $65K-$85K
(determination of salary is based on experience level)
